A lecturer has referred this student to Aalayam after observing his hard work and commitment. Not only is he the class leader, the student is also preparing for UPSC exams. The college is supporting him by providing books and guidance.

The student's father is said to have committed suicide as he had large loans. His mother is employed as a housekeeping staff in a hospital, earning a salary of Rs. 11,500 per month. The student, his mother and a younger sister live in a rented home with the grandparents. The grandfather receives a pension of Rs. 2,000 per month.

As daily life is a constant struggle, the student worked in an Internet centre to support his family during the lockdown brought on by pandemic restrictions. He saved Rs. 5,000 for his education. But it is hardly enough for his college fees. Now that colleges have opened, he has discontinued work to focus on classes. After a complete review, Aalayam has approved assistance of Rs. 10,000 towards his college fees.
